Maple Grove Bakery's Cake Mistaken For Female Reproductive Organ
After its latest creation went viral, Nadia Cakes joked that half its customers are "perverts."
MAPLE GROVE, MN — Twin Cities-based Nadia Cakes saw national fame in 2013 when it won on the Food Network's "Cupcake Wars." The bakery's cakes are again in the limelight this week, but for a very different, not entirely "family-friendly" reason.
Nadia Cakes recently created a pink cake with an oval cavity made with rock candy. "This beautiful geode rock cake is available NOW in Maple Grove," the store said unassumingly on Facebook. "Only ONE!"
The bakery's photo of the cake has since been shared more than 26,000 times on Facebook and has racked up almost 10,000 comments. Why? Many seem to think the cake resembles a female genitalia.

"Well, it’s official. Our customers are 50% rock enthusiasts and 50% perverts," the bakery joked.
The "vagina cake" went viral across Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit as well.

"I approve this message. Good colors. Layering. Accurate," local obstetrician Reetu Syal commented. "Thank you! We’ll let the design staff know they’ve replicated a healthy, anatomically correct geode," the store responded.
In another exchange, Jaime Lynn Lewis wrote, "I’m a midwife....that is a vulva plain and clear in my book."
"We looked this cake right in the crotch and didn't see a vagina either. I mean, we see it now tho," the bakery added.
