Maple Grove Man Dies By Suicide In Hennepin County Jail: Examiner

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A 29-year-old man in custody at the Hennepin County Jail in Minneapolis died by suicide Saturday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner ruled. Earlier this month, Joshua Fury pleaded guilty to intentional second-degree murder in the death of his wife in Maple Grove.
At 7:13 p.m. Saturday, during inmate health and wellness checks, deputies found Joshua David Fury unresponsive in his cell. Deputies began CPR and paramedics and fire continued medical treatment, but lifesaving efforts were "unsuccessful," according to a news release.
Fury was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on May 2 after being arrested by Maple Grove police. He was scheduled to be sentenced July 31.

Authorities said as part of his plea, and "due to the violent nature of the murder," Fury was expected to get 38 years in prison, or 12.5 years more than presumptive guideline sentencing.
Fury was housed in a cell by himself at the time of his death, police said.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit processed the scene and detectives are investigating the incident. The Department of Corrections will also review the death.
