Maple Grove Students Excel in Speech Competition, Prepare for National Tournament

A number of Maple Grove Senior High School students are preparing for the national qualifying tournament in St. Cloud.

The Maple Grove Senior High School Speech Team had a successful tournament at the  Bison Invitational held at Buffalo High School last weekend.

The team placed third overall, and students took home the below individual awards:

  • 1st place: Raeshawn Payton & Shikha Raval
  • 2nd place: Shikha Raval & Aditya Parikh
  • 3rd place:Jason Fotso, Hubert Lin, Anna Mirkin, & Sasha Shilko
  • 4th place: Aniket Ketkar
  • 6th place: Sairam Venkat, Kate Totz, & Sasha Shilko

Beginning Thursday, Mar. 7, students will participate in the Northern Lights District tournament which will determine who qualifies for the National Forensic League Tournament this summer in Birmingham, AL.

"We qualified four debaters earlier in the year, and are hopeful we can add a few speakers to the roster," head coach Heather Fairbanks said.
