I have had the honor of serving as Oakdale’s police chief since January 1988 and I will now be retiring at the end of July. I wanted to take just a moment to thank all of the residents of this community for your kindness and support over these many years, and to ask that you extend that same consideration to the future leaders of the department. There is no doubt that the change in law enforcement since I started in this career in 1974 as an Army MP has been profound. While we acknowledge that our profession is often imperfect and at times does not meet community expectations, I can assure you that the men and women working for the Oakdale Police Department are among the brightest and most compassionate I have ever worked with in my long career.

Additionally, It would not have been possible to achieve whatever success we have had without the political and administrative support received from our city councils and all of the department heads and department members from the various city agencies. This has truly been a team approach to providing city services and I thank each of them for their support of the police department and their genuine concern for our residents.

The best partner I have ever had, my wife Jane, has been on this journey with me for well over 40 years and we are going to transition into retirement together. We will continue to live in Oakdale and we look forward to seeing many of you at various community activities. Please accept our sincere appreciation for the opportunity to live and work in a great community!
