Key initiatives:
Workshops: We offer a series of workshops that align with our Dig DEEP model (Discover their Differences, Acknowledge their Essence, Build their Esteem, Embrace their Power) that encourages girls to love and celebrate their qualities. Our workshops consist of group discussion, role-playing and other related activities and are designed to define and enhance the character of girls by helping them identify their personal power.
- I AM...Two of the most POWERFUL words that you can use, because what you put after them shapes who you are. This workshop is a lively session where we discuss each of the six power principles and conclude with an inspirational Girls Are Powerful Art Project.
- Empowered to Be ME. This workshop is an extension of our 2-hour workshop where we explore each one of the power principles in more depth by focusing on one power principle per week and reinforcing each principle upon each week's consecutive gathering.
Community Events:
- Community Pop-ups. We are introducing communities to Girls Are Powerful by hosting an event in different communities quarterly. In 2015-16, our theme is Celebrate YOU; at this event each girl has the opportunity to visit three power stations that are designed to encourage them to identify their strength, values and belief in their self. The parents are also invited to participate by attending our discussion circle.
- Girl Connect. In an effort to keep the momentum going for those girls who have attended one of our community events or workshops, we are offering them a way to continue exploring our power words, through arts, theater, movies and other exciting activities around the Twin Cities.
Program: We have the pleasure of working with several young ladies who are currently going through our Girls Are Powerful Program. These ladies have been charged with embodying the mission to spread the principles of Girls Are Powerful to other girls in the community. Through discussions, speaking engagements, activities and volunteering these young ladies are our first official class of ambassadors.
- Brand Ambassadors also known as volunteers, are individuals who help facilitate the ongoing success of our organization through a specific role or project-based assignment throughout the year. The level of involvement is solely based on the desired commitment level of the volunteer.
- Board of Directors operates as a working, volunteering board, which participates in monthly organization governance meetings as well as leading events throughout the year.
