Level 3 Sex Offender Moving To Oakdale Thursday

OAKDALE, MN — A level three predatory sex offender is moving to Oakdale, according to police. Brian Joseph Smith, 38, will live on the 900 block of Greenway Avenue North starting May 10.

In Minnesota, level three sex offenders are convicts who have "a high risk of reoffense."

Smith has a history of criminal sexual contact with women.

"Contact included penetration," according to a news release. "This offender used force, threats and weapons to gain compliance from his victim. This offender was known to his victim."

Smith "also has a criminal history of assaultive behavior and use of a weapons."

Smith was recently released from prison and has completed his sentence. He is not under active investigation by law enforcement.
