Local Author at Chapter 2 Books

Gloria VanDemmeltraadt, Oakdale resident and independent author, motivational speaker, life-story writer and teacher, will be appearing at Chapter 2 Books in Hudson, Wisconsin, 226 Locust Street. Dates are Thursday evening, September 29, 6:00-7:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 2, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
VanDemmeltraadt will be speaking about her newest book, Darkness in Paradise: Memories of Onno VanDemmeltraadt from his youth in Indonesia during WWII.
More than a touching memoir, the book is a historical document describing the history of The Dutch East Indies and how it became Indonesia. It is a unique view of WWII that history buffs are thoroughly enjoying.
VanDemmeltraadt is also the author of “Memories of Lake Elmo,” the history of a charming Minnesota village, and “Musing and Munching,” a memoir and cookbook.
