Update (Fri., 2:02 p.m.) Neither cause nor manner of death have been determined in Thursday's multiple death case in the 7000 block of 13th Ave., Oakdale Police Department (OPD) spokesperson Michelle Stark confirmed today.Â
But investigators from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and the OPD anticipate the official report from the Ramsey County medical examiner today.
All three victims must be autopsied and identified before the ME will issue its report.
Fox 9 reported Thursday that family and church members identified the bodies as Cynthia Omelas, 28, Jamie Vasquez, 38, and Angela Uscanga, 43.
Prior to receiving that report, investigators also refuse to classify the case as a homicide or suicide or any combination thereof, despite early reports of an apparent murder-suicide.
"We don't expect the ME findings to filter through one at a time. We think they'll be released altogether, in one report," Stark said.
Stark also confirmed that the case has been given "high priority" status and said she hopes for the ME report today but expects it no later than tomorrow.Â
Short of calling early media reports of the case irresponsible, Stark did say that what has been reported thus far is "disappointing."
In its Thursday night story, the Pioneer Press reported details of the victims' children.Â
"I think information about any juvenile (in stories) is disappointing," Stark said. "We're trying to protect these kids as much as possible. Information about names, ages or where they go to school should be omitted."
Stark confirmed to the Star Tribune that investigators are not searching for a suspect in the deaths and there is no threat to public safety.
