Richfield residents,

"For a fourth straight night, Richfield was under a curfew to help aid in public safety efforts. In terms of call volume and overall activity in the community, it was a much quieter night in Richfield for the city’s first responders.

Between 6 p.m. last night and 6 a.m. this morning, our officers responded to 84 calls for service. This was a 41% decrease compared to the night before. As with previous nights, the bulk of the department’s efforts were related to traffic stops, curfew violations and reports of suspicious persons. One burglary took place where several individuals forced their way into a closed business to steal merchandise.

Again, the Fire Department helped keep an eye out for suspicious activity by patrolling the city and reporting anything out of the ordinary to the police. The department continued to have extra staff on hand, just in case they received a higher than normal call volume.

We are expecting that this evening will be the last day the city will be under curfew. It will be in effect from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Remember, the best things you can do to keep yourself, your neighbors and the city’s businesses safe is to:

  • Stay at home at night
  • Keep porch lights on
  • Call 911 if you see anything suspicious

Thank you again for being great partners in keeping Richfield safe and abiding by the curfew. It allowed our public safety and fire service personnel to operate effectively and efficiently. We are all in this together and all have a part to play in keeping our community safe.

Sincerely,

Katie Rodriguez
City Manager

Jay Henthorne
Police Chief

Wayne Kewitsch
Fire Chief
