Richfield's 4th Of July Fireworks 2021 Canceled

Richfield's fireworks may have been canceled, but there are other events and celebrations going on in town on July 4.

RICHFIELD, MN — Although coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, many Independence Day celebrations have once again been canceled, modified or will be held virtually due to the pandemic.

Richfield's fireworks may have been canceled, but there are other events and celebrations going on in town on July 4.

"The festival takes approximately 6-months of careful planning during a non-pandemic year, so we have had to make tough decisions based primarily on the time it takes to plan the event given the guidelines at that time," the city said in a statement.

"It has been hard to read into the future and know where we would be at currently and early July with the pandemic and vaccination rates."

Organizers expect the celebration will return in 2022.
