Doctor Shot In Head At Edina's Fairview Parking Lot: Report

EDINA, MN — M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital and the buildings surrounding it went into lockdown Monday evening as police looked for the suspect in a shooting at the parking lot.

A doctor who resisted during a robbery was shot in the head, a source told the Star Tribune. The 45-year-old doctor, who lives in Eagan, was able to give officers a description of the suspect.

He is being treated for noncritical injuries, the newspaper reported.

At 8:54 p.m., the Edina Police Department received calls of a shooting at the hospital parking lot. The suspect fled the scene, according to authorities.

"Those in the area are urged to exercise caution and remain in their homes," officials said Monday night.

The lockdown was lifted around midnight, KARE 11 reports.
