How Cold Will It Get Wednesday?

TWIN CITIES, MN — It's the second official day of autumn in Minnesota, and Wednesday promises to be one of the coldest days we've had in a while. The first frost won't come yet, but be sure to bundle up more than you're used to in the morning.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will be sunny and breezy, with a high near 67. "Winds could gust as high as 30 mph," says the NWS.

After that, temperatures will fall to a brisk 49 degrees. Here's the rest of the forecast for this week, via the NWS:

Thursday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 66. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 4 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 56. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 47. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 62. Calm wind becoming east northeast around 5 mph.

Saturday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. East northeast wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. East southeast wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
