I-35W Crash In Bloomington Injures Teen, 56-Year-Old

A four-car crash left one man fighting for his life. An 18-year-old woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

BLOOMINGTON, MN — A 56-year-old man is fighting for his life after a crash on Interstate 35W in Bloomington Sunday afternoon. A Coon Rapids teen was also injured, but her wounds are considered "non-life-threatening."

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Jeep Liberty was stalled under the 90th Street Bridge over southbound I35W in the left lane. At about 4:45 p.m., a Ford Escape swerved "last minute" and clipped the right passenger side of the Jeep, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

A Chevy Tahoe — traveling at highway speed — rear-ended the Jeep. Both vehicles came to rest on the right side of the highway. A Ford F-150 sideswiped after the Jeep-Tahoe collision.

The driver of the Jeep was outside his vehicle at the time of the crash and "sustained life-threatening injuries," police said.

The 18-year-old woman driving the Chevy was transported to Hennepin HealthCare.

The drivers of the Escape and the F-150 did not suffer injuries, police said. Road conditions at the time were snowy and icy.
