Lakeville Man Died By Suicide Over I-494: Medical Examiner
The 40-year-old man fired several rounds in the air before shooting himself on a pedestrian bridge, authorities said.
BLOOMINGTON, MN — A Lakeville man died by suicide on a pedestrian bridge over Interstate Highway 494 in Bloomington Thursday, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner.
Anton Lamont Burnes, 40, fired several rounds in the air from a handgun before fatally shooting himself, authorities said. No officers, drivers or other pedestrians were injured in the incident, police said.
Just after 6:15 p.m., Bloomington and Richfield police found the man firing from the pedestrian bridge over I-494. A Bloomington officer fired a shot from the south side of the bridge but authorities have not confirmed if he hit Burnes.

Burnes continued to fire his handgun for about 10 minutes, police said. He eventually climbed over the bridge fence above I-494, shot himself in the head and fell onto the highway.
Officers were unable to revive Burnes on the roadway. He was declared dead just before 7 p.m.
