"Thank you for your partnership and cooperation as we live through a global health crisis and metro-wide unrest.

My top priority is to keep residents, businesses and our city safe as we continue into the weekend. Yesterday, I issued an emergency curfew for both Friday and Saturday nights. I was so appreciative to see almost every resident abide by the curfew, which allowed our public safety personnel to stay focused on keeping everyone safe. Remember, tonight’s curfew lasts from 8 p.m.to 6 a.m. Once again, I ask all Richfield residents to stay home so we can focus our efforts on preventing and addressing crime and keeping our businesses and city safe. We will continue to use every means of communication possible to keep you up to date on the state of the city’s public safety.

I’d also like to acknowledge our residents who came together today at City Hall to hold a vigil for George Floyd and Brian Quinones and peacefully protested, giving witness and asking for change and reform.

We will protect Richfield from those coming from outside the area with no other motive but to destroy and decimate our businesses, homes and other public spaces. If you see something, say something. Call 911. Help keep Richfield safe!

As a city, we will continue to create spaces for our residents, employees and visitors to speak up and work for change. I have fought for substantive change in both my public and private life, to create communities and systems that better serve all of us, and will continue to do so as we move forward and through the struggles we are currently facing.

I ask for your continued cooperation and extend my deepest gratitude for the tremendous work and leadership of all of our city staff, public safety officers, and fire service personnel who are working around the clock to keep Richfield safe during this time. Also, thank you for keeping one another informed, donating food and supplies to communities in need, helping businesses being vandalized and decimated and to those advocating for change.

If you need me, I am here for you. Please do not hesitate to call me at 612-500-3862 or email me at mregan@richfieldmn.gov."

Sincerely,

Maria Regan Gonzalez
Mayor of Richfield
