Pooper Scoopers Rally Together To Keep Dung-Filled Dog Park Open

Dog owners were told that conditions at the dog park must "dramatically improve" or else it will shut down.

CARVER COUNTY, MN — A Twin Cities dog park will stay open thanks to seventh hour cleaning efforts. Last week, pet owners in Carver County learned they could lose their dog park if they continue to avoid picking up pet poop.

The Carver County Parks Department issued the initial threat about Lake Minnewashta Regional Park over Facebook Wednesday, saying that "conditions must dramatically improve" by Monday for the off-leash area to remain open.

"If sanitary conditions are not met, an indefinite closure of the facility is planned until sanitary conditions are achieved." The county scheduled cleanup events at the park for Saturday and Sunday.

"The Lake Minnewashta off-leash dog area will remain open," the county said Tuesday.
