"Once again, everyone banded together last night to keep Richfield safe. Watchful residents were instrumental at reporting suspicious activity. Your calls allowed our officers to quickly respond, with all calls being responded to in less than three minutes.

Between 6 p.m. last night and 6 a.m. this morning, our officers responded to a total of 142 calls. As with previous nights, the bulk of the department’s efforts were related to traffic stops, curfew violations and reports of suspicious persons. One burglary was attempted on a city business, but was quickly stopped by officers.

The Fire Department continued its increased staffing levels and also lent several extra sets of eyes to be on the lookout for suspicious activities. Last night, fire personnel responded to calls for service while on the move, as they traversed the city reporting anything out of the ordinary to the Police Department.

Remember, the best things you can do to keep yourself, your neighbors and the city’s businesses safe is to:

  • Stay at home at night
  • Keep porch lights on
  • Call 911 if you see anything suspicious

For a third straight night, residents were great partners in keeping Richfield safe and abiding by the curfew. It allowed our public safety and fire service personnel to operate effectively and efficiently. We are all in this together and all have a part to play in keeping our community safe. We thank you for all your efforts."

Sincerely,

Katie Rodriguez
City Manager

Jay Henthorne
Police Chief

Wayne Kewitsch
Fire Chief
