Richfield School District Comes into Small Fortune
Richfield School District pre-kindergarten initiatives have about $1 million extra this year.

Richfield School District pre-kindergarten initiatives have come into a small fortune.
The Sun Current reported that Richfield schools learned last week they will receive an $825,500 grant from the state of Minnesota. The amount is enough to fund early childhood education for 126 students.
The announcement of the grant comes after the district received about $250,000 in funding for pre-k scholarships from Minnesota's Pathways program earlier this year.

The new funding will serve 162 4-year-olds and 72 3-year-olds, according to Richfield Schools Superintendent Steve Unowsky.
"Oh, this is gigantic," he said. "You never really know what to expect when you apply for grants."
