30th Annual National Night Out Kicks Off Tuesday
Block parties, barbecue will be the order of the day.

On Tuesday, Minneapolis' neighborhoods pour out their front doors and onto the streets to celebrate the 30th annual Minneapolis National Night Out. The block parties, originally conceived to help fight crime, has become a staple of Minneapolis life.
If you haven't registered your block party with the city, the police will not be able to close off your street—but that doesn't mean you can't get the neighbors together for some lawn games and barbecue in front of your house!
If you need ideas for your National Night Out party, check out these tips from the City. If your block doesn't have a party on Tuesday, but you wish your block had a party next year, you could be a good candidate for the Minneapolis Police Department's block leader program.
