6 Fun Things to Do in Stillwater, Minnesota

Did you know that Stillwater is known as the "birthplace" of Minnesota? That's because the 1848 territorial convention, which began the process of establishing Minnesota as a state, was held on the corner of Myrtle and Main Street in downtown Stillwater.

Here are six fun things you can do while enjoying this historic city:

Historic Cave Tours: Have a drink while exploring the cave. Located at the Luna Rossa Trattoria Restaurant, the Joseph Wolf Brewery cave tours are offered daily and by appointment. The adjacent wine shop features a huge selection of wines from around the world.

Historic lift bridge: How can you mention Stillwater and not talk about its historic lift bridge? Stillwater’s lift bridge was built in 1931 and spans the St. Croix River between Stillwater and Houlton, WI. It is one of three remaining lift bridges in the U.S. View the lift bridge schedule to see when you can watch it go up and down.

Stillwater Trolley: Enjoy Minnesota’s oldest town while aboard the Stillwater trolley. The ride includes a 45 minute narrated tour that runs daily. Specialty tours include kids story time, and progressive craft beer and dinner tours.
