Boy, 12, Dies After Being Pulled From Minneapolis Pool

Authorities believe the boy climbed a fence around the pool and entered the water.

MINNEAPOLIS — A 12-year-old boy died Tuesday after he was pulled from a closed Minneapolis pool Friday, authorities said. The incident happened at about 5 p.m. at the North Commons Water Park.

Authorities believe the boy climbed a fence around the pool and entered the water. The fence gate was locked at the time and the water park has not yet opened for the season, according to investigators.

Police were called after a witness saw the boy at the bottom of the pool. A Minneapolis Park police officer jumped into the pool and pulled him from the water. A second Minneapolis Park officer performed CPR on the boy until medics arrived.
