Car Drives Into Protest, Kills Woman In Minneapolis: Police
After the crash, protesters pulled the driver out of the car and attacked him, witnesses told police.
MINNEAPOLIS — A woman was killed and another person was injured Sunday night after a car drove into a protest on Lake Street in Uptown, according to police. Drugs or alcohol use by the driver may have contributed to the crash, authorities said.
Before the fatal crash, Minneapolis police were monitoring a protest at West Lake Street and Girard Avenue South, close to where Winston Boogie Smith Jr. was fatally shot by a federal task force on June 3.
Just after 11:30 p.m., a car drove into the group of protesters, police said.

Protesters pulled the driver from the vehicle and attacked him, witnesses told police. Officers took custody of the driver.
Two injured protesters were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center ambulance, where one died.

The Medical Examiner will release the identity of the victim, along with the nature and cause of death in the days to come.
