Christmas Eve Mass In Twin Cities Allowed To Start Earlier
Church officials say the move will allow more opportunities for Twin Cities Catholics to attend Mass while maintaining COVID-19 protocols.
TWIN CITIES, MN — Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis is allowing local parishes to offer Christmas Eve Mass as early as 2 p.m. this year. Under normal circumstances, Christmas Eve Masses aren't held until the evening.
Church officials say the move will allow more opportunities for Twin Cities Catholics to attend Mass in person while maintaining COVID-19 protocols such as social distancing.
The dispensation from the obligation for Catholics to attend Sunday Mass and other Holy Days continues for parishioners in the Twin Cities metro. Masses continue to be live-streamed for Catholics who wish to stay home amid the pandemic.
