DFL Party: Hagedorn, Fischbach Should Be Expelled From Congress
Republicans Jim Hagedorn and Michelle Fischbach objected to the certification of the Electoral College votes in Arizona and Pennsylvania.

TWIN CITIES, MN — The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party has called on Congress to expel Republican Reps. Jim Hagedorn and Michelle Fischbach after the two objected to the certification of the Electoral College votes in Arizona and Pennsylvania Wednesday.
"Just three days after Representatives Hagedorn and Fischbach swore oaths to defend the United States Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic, they violated those oaths by lending aid and comfort to an insurrectionist mob through their votes to overturn the results of a free and fair American election," DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin said in a statement Thursday.
"Today, I am calling on Congressional leaders to begin the formal process of expelling Representatives Hagedorn and Fischbach from the House of Representatives."

Fischbach defended her decision to object, saying the election "was shrouded in allegations of irregularities and fraud too voluminous to ignore." She did not cite evidence.
Hagedorn said he voted to object because of the "unilateral actions of state officials and courts, who subverted the proper authority of state legislatures to change election laws. For our republic and the Electoral College process to properly function, the U.S. Constitution must be respected."

In the 2020 election, Fischbach defeated Democrat Collin Peteson. Peterson had represented western Minnesota since 1991.
Hagedorn is serving his second term in Congress.
