Funeral Details For Daunte Wright Announced

Daunte Wright, 20, was shot and killed by police in Brooklyn Center Sunday.

MINNEAPOLIS — The funeral for Daunte Wright, the 20-year-old who was shot and killed by a police officer in Brooklyn Center, will be held at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church on Bryant Avene in Minneapolis, according to a news report.

The funeral will take place on April 22 at 12 p.m., FOX 9 reported. It's not yet known if the service will be open to the public.

Rev. Al Sharpton, whose National Action Network group is paying for the funeral expenses, will give a eulogy at the funeral.

Ex-Cop Kim Potter Charged In Death Of Daunte Wright

Former Brooklyn Center police officer Kim Potter, 48, was charged with second-degree manslaughter Wednesday in the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright. Potter was arrested by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension agents Wednesday morning and booked into the Hennepin County Jail.

The charge was filed by Washington County Attorney Pete Orput. Potter's case is being handled by the Washington County Attorney's Office after the case was handed over from Hennepin County in order to avoid any conflict of interest.

If convicted, Potter faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Read more here.
