Members Of US Marshals Task Force Shoot, Kill Man In Uptown
A man was shot and killed by law enforcement in Uptown after he "failed to comply" and showed a handgun, authorities said.
MINNEAPOLIS — Members of a United States Marshals task force shot and killed a man near a busy intersection in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis Thursday afternoon, the agency confirmed. No Minneapolis police officers involved in the shooting.
The task force members who fired their weapons were identified Friday as two local deputies, one from the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office and another from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.
The man was shot and killed on the top level of a parking ramp at 1405 West Lake Street just after 2 p.m. His identity has not yet been released.

Just after 2 p.m., members of the task force were trying to apprehend a man who was wanted by the state in a possession of a firearm by a felon case, the Marshals Service said.
The man, who was in a parked car, "failed to comply" and showed a handgun, according to the Marshals Service.

"Task force members attempted life-saving measures; however the fugitive was pronounced deceased by Hennepin County EMS on scene," the agency said in a statement.
A woman who was in the car at the time was treated for minor injuries from glass debris.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension — the state agency which typically investigates shootings involving law enforcement — is leading the investigation in the shooting.

Witnesses at the heard between 10 and 15 shots fired, according to KARE 11.
A crowd of onlookers quickly grew near the scene of the shooting. Protesters also arrived, Minnesota Public Radio's Matt Sepic reported.
The fatal shooting happened hours after city workers began clearing the barriers at George Floyd Square Thursday morning.
