I-35W Closure In Minneapolis Scheduled For This Weekend
Crews will work 24-hours-a-day during the closure resurfacing the interstate between Portland and Washington Avenues.

MINNEAPOLIS — Interstate 35W will close in both directions between Interstate 94 and Highway 280 in Minneapolis beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 through 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16. Crews will begin closing the ramps for I-35W about one hour before closing the interstate.
Motorists will be detoured using I-94 and Highway 280. They can go north on I-35W from Washington Avenue.

The closure of I-35W will affect access between I-35W and downtown Minneapolis. Motorists should plan ahead and give themselves extra time to reach their destinations. The ramps from Highway 55 west to Washington Avenue and Highway 55 west to I-94 west will also be closed.
In addition, I-35W north will be closed from Highway 62 to I-94 east from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 to noon, Saturday, Sept. 14. The detour is Highway 62 west to Highway 100 north to I-394 east to I-94 east to Highway 280 to I-35W north.

The work from Washington to Portland includes resurfacing of lanes, median work, drainage improvements and repairs to 11 ramps that connect to I-35W. It is expected to be complete in October.
This work is part of the larger four-year 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown reconstruction project on I-35W between 43rd Street and downtown Minneapolis. For the work between Portland and Washington, crews will resurface the interstate and repair 11 ramps that connect to I-35W.
