'I Miss You And I Love You': Gianna Floyd's Victim Impact Speech

MINNEAPOLIS — Gianna Floyd, the 7-year-old daughter of George Floyd, gave a victim-impact statement Friday via video at the sentencing hearing of Derek Chauvin — the former police officer convicted in the murder of her father.

An interviewer asked Gianna questions about the impact of her father's death on her life.

"I ask about him all the time," Gianna said.

She told the interviewer that she is always asking "How did my dad get hurt?" and that she wishes her dad were still alive but that he is still here in spirit.

Gianna also reminisced on memories with Floyd and said that when she sees him again they will play and go on plane rides.

When asked how she would like people to remember her father, Gianna said, "I hope they help him because those mean people did something to him."

"I miss you and I love you," Gianna finished her statement.
