The Light in Our Eyes: Mergers Between Poetry, Fiction, Memoir and Anthropology

Join anthropologists and creative writers for a reading and creative work

What does it mean to do research as a creative writer? What does it mean to write creatively as a researcher? Join anthropologists and creative writers for a reading of creative work, and to discuss the ways in which fieldwork, interviews and other ethnographic research methods contribute to telling stories and writing poems. The presenters will illustrate what it means to be human through art and social science. Featuring Minneapolis writers and creative anthropologists from across the U.S.: Ruth Behar, Melisa Cahnmann-Taylor, Sarah Green, Adrie Kusserow, Gretchen Marquette, and Nomi Stone.

The event will take place Friday November 18th, 12:15-1:30pm at the Minneapolis Central Library 300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN. This event is free and open to the public.
