Man Charged with Threatening Woman in Windom

Charges were filed by the Hennepin County Attorney last week.

A North Minneapolis man is being charged with a felony after he allegedly threatened and attacked his girlfriend of six months at a home on the 5700 block of Lyndale Avenue South on May 7.

Gregory Jones, 29, was charged by the Hennepin County Attorney on May 10 with the felony of making terroristic threats, which carries a possible sentence of up to five years and $10,000.

His girlfriend, who told police she is pregnant with his child, was allegedly "choke-slammed" by Jones after the couple argued about money. Jones then allegedly got on top of her and tried to strangle her, threatening to punch her in the stomach, according to the criminal complaint.

When police responded, the victim told them Jones had taken $800 from her purse. Police caught up with Jones a few blocks away and recovered about $700.

Jones has previously been convicted for a number of crimes dating back to 2001, including drug and assault charges, according to court records. He hasn't faced a charge since 2008.

Jones is currently being held Hennepin County Jail. His first court date is June 15, 2011.
