Man Found Dead Inside Tent At Minneapolis Homeless Encampment
The man suffered "obvious trauma," police said.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Minneapolis police are investigating after a man's body was found in a tent at a homeless encampment Sunday. Around noon, officers from the Park Police and the Minneapolis Police Department responded to the scene at the 4900 block of South Minnehaha Park Drive on a welfare check.
As officers arrived, numerous people fled on foot, officials said.
"It is believed that the people that fled on foot as officers arrived may have mistakenly believed the officers were there to assist in disbanding the encampment; however, the police response was not related to disbanding the encampment," police said in a statement

Police say they found the man's body, which had experienced "obvious trauma."
Detectives and Crime Lab personnel initiated a death investigation, and the Minneapolis Police Department is the primary investigative unit, according to a news release.
