Man Used Ax To Vandalize George Floyd Square, Video Shows

The man vandalized signs and a shed near 38th Street and Chicago Avenue early Sunday morning.

MINNEAPOLIS — A man used an ax to vandalize George Floyd Square Sunday, video obtained by The Star Tribune shows. Around 2 a.m., the man pulled up in a pickup truck near 38th Street and Chicago Avenue — the intersection where George Floyd gasped for breath under the weight of Derek Chauvin's knee — and began pushing down signs.

He later went back to his truck, grabbed an ax, and swung it against a shed, the video shows.

The man left after another person at the site yelled at him and told him to leave.
