Memorial Day 2021: What's Open, Closed In Minneapolis

Most government offices will be closed for Memorial Day in Minneapolis.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis city government offices will be closed Monday so employees can observe the Memorial Day holiday. Minneapolis city offices will resume regular business hours Tuesday.

There will be no Minneapolis city garbage and recycling pickups May 31. Households’ garbage and recycling pickups scheduled for May 31 through June 4 occur one day later (Tuesday through Saturday) than their normal schedule.

Minneapolis 311 services, the Solid Waste & Recycling customer service office, and the Public Works Transfer Station will be closed Memorial Day.

Minneapolis city parking meters will not be enforced May 31. However, other parking meters run by the Park Board, University of Minnesota, and various private organizations may continue to operate as normal.

Minneapolis police and fire emergency services and 911 will not be affected by the Memorial Day holiday.

  • Public library: closed
  • Minnesota state offices and courts: closed
  • Post Office: closed
  • Banks: closed
  • Hennepin County offices: closed

Though banks and government offices will be closed, many stores and restaurants will be open for regular business hours.
