Memorial For George Floyd Set For Thursday In Minneapolis
Gov. Tim Walz said the memorial service will serve as an opportunity to bring the community together.

MINNEAPOLIS — The family of George Floyd has released details for his memorial that will be held in Minneapolis. The memorial will be held Thursday at North Central University's Frank J. Lindquist Sanctuary at 910 Elliot Avenue South.
It will begin at 1 p.m.
Gov. Tim Walz said the memorial service will serve as an opportunity to bring the community together.

"It will be an important event, both for the City of Minneapolis, for Minnesota and for the nation to watch that process of celebrating a life that was taken in front of us, an opportunity for leadership," the governor said during a news conference.
Memorials will also be held in Houston, Texas, and Raeford, North Carolina

Floyd's funeral is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 9 in Houston at 11 a.m.
Floyd's family has established a memorial fund on GoFundMe. To date, the page has raised more than $9 million. A portion of the funds will be used to care for Floyd's children and pay for their education, the page said.
