4th Of July Fireworks 2021 Canceled In Minneapolis

Minneapolis' fireworks may have been canceled, but there are other events and celebrations going on in town on July 4.

MINNEAPOLIS — Although coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, many Independence Day celebrations have once again been canceled, modified or will be held virtually due to the pandemic.

Minneapolis' fireworks may have been canceled, but there are other events and celebrations going on in town on July 4.

"Although pandemic restrictions for outdoor events ended May 8, 2021, regrettably there simply is not enough time to create the Red, White and Boom! experience that people have come to know and love," the city of Minneapolis said in a statement.

Fireworks also canceled in Stillwater

Stillwater's July 4 fireworks show was also canceled this summer.

"COVID-19 supply chain disruptions have slowed the availability of fireworks and they won't be here till late July," the city of Stillwater said in a statement. "Consequently, there will be no fireworks on the 4th."

However, there will be other free entertainment options, including Civil War cannons and music in the park on July 4. A fireworks show will be held at the Lift and Loop Bridge Celebration on Aug. 14.

Due to the pandemic, counties or cities may adjust or cancel events at the last minute, so double-check with organizers. Know of other events in the area? Post them on the Patch calendar or share details on our free Neighbor Post feature.
