Minneapolis To Close 'Bar Areas' To Slow Spread Of COVID-19
Customers will be asked to stay seated at their table and have a staff member provide them with service there.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey Wednesday announced an emergency order that will require all "bar areas" in city establishments to close starting Aug. 1. The local measure comes as coronavirus cases rise in Minnesota and spike in other parts of the United States.
Establishments that serve alcohol can remain open under the order. The order is intended to keep patrons from congregating around a bar or cash register, waiting for service while potentially spreading COVID-19.
Instead, customers will be asked to stay seated at their table and have a staff member provide them with service there.
