Minneapolis Man Charged In Shootout With Police
The 26-year-old is currently in the hospital being treated for gunshot wounds.
MINNEAPOLIS — A Minneapolis man is charged in a shootout with police officers after crashing his car in the city, police said.
Zedrick Cooper, 26, faces three counts of first-degree assault. Cooper suffered several gunshot wounds and is currently being treated at North Memorial Medical Center, police said.
Police said that a man driving a black SUV pointed a gun at people at a gas station near Lowry Avenue North and Logan Avenue North on Jan. 14. The man fled in his vehicle, which crashed into a stop sign as he tried to turn east on Dowling Avenue North.

Six officers responded. They told the man to get out of he car with his hands up, but he refused, police said. An officer broke the driver’s side window and saw that the man had a gun, according to the criminal complaint.
The man fired multiple shots at officers as they ran back to their cars to seek cover, and officers returned fire, authorities said.

Cooper has previous felony convictions and is not allowed to have a gun, according to a news release.
