Convicted MN Serial Rapist Faces More Than 45 Years In Prison
A 35-year-old Ham Lake man pleaded guilty in the violent assaults of women near the University of Minnesota between 2015 and 2019.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A 35-year-old Ham Lake resident faces more than 45 years in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of criminal sexual conduct Thursday. The charges against Jory Wiebrand involve attacks that go back to 2015 and that occurred near the University of Minnesota.
Wiebrand pleaded guilty Thursday in a remote court hearing to four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Wiebrand's negotiated prison sentence is 550 months — nearly 46 years — according to a news release.
The Hennepin County Attorney's office provided the following summary of each case, including links to the criminal complaints against Wiebrand.

First-degree criminal sexual conduct – case 27-CR-20-10963. On March 23, 2015, defendant sexually assaulted the victim as she was cleaning snow of her car at the 1300 block of 7th Street SE in Minneapolis.
First-degree criminal sexual conduct – case 27-CR-20-11960. On Feb. 25, 2018, defendant sexually assaulted the victim in her yard at the 800 block of 20th Avenue NE in Minneapolis after she came home from shopping at a convenient store.
First-degree criminal sexual conduct – case 27-CR-20-10942. On Aug. 4, 2018, defendant attacked the victim as she entered her home at the 800 block of 6th Street SE Minneapolis and proceeded to sexually assault and rob her.
Second-degree criminal sexual conduct – case 27-CR-20-11167. On Feb. 8, 2019, defendant attacked and sexually assaulted the victim as she was on her way to a bus stop near the 600 block of 8th Street SE in Minneapolis.
First-degree criminal sexual conduct – case 27-CR-20-9853. On Aug. 7, 2019, defendant attacked and sexually assaulted the victim after she got out of the shower at her home on the 700 block of 4th Street SE in Minneapolis.
"I commend the hard work our prosecutors put forth on these cases," Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said in a statement.
"I also want to acknowledge the exceptional police work that made it possible to identify, arrest, charge and ultimately convict Mr. Wiebrand. Had it not been for their diligent work, he may still be on the loose, tormenting innocent women. I hope at the time of sentencing, the victims and their families are able to find some closure and can begin the healing process after experiencing such trauma."

Wiebrand will have to register as a predatory sexual offender, be on conditional release for the remainder of his life and must pay any possible restitution to the women he assaulted.
