Minneapolis Student Testifies about Coal Burning at Capitol

A student in Senate District 60 and co-chair of a youth environmental group, Cole Norgaarden, testified at the Capitol against a bill that would lift restrictions on carbon dioxide emissions by utilities.

Minneapolis Blake student, Cole Norgaarden, told members of the Senate Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications committee Tuesday that lifting restrictions on carbon dioxide emissions by utilities would hinder the state's efforts at energy sustainability. He said the repeal in Senate File 86 is "backwards and unnecessary."

"This problem is not going away," Norgaarden told the committee. "Please invest in the future of your children, of your community, and of the state of Minnesota by opposing this repeal."

Senator Scott Dibble thanked Nogaarden, noting that Blake School is located in his district.
