Minnesota Weather: Arctic Airmass 'Invades' State Thursday
The "frigid and remarkably persistent" Arctic air will be with us through at least next week, according to the National Weather Service.
TWIN CITIES, MN — Following the Thursday morning snowstorm, the Twin Cities metro will be hit with the first snap of truly bitter cold air this winter. The low will hit 16 degrees below zero in the metro Saturday night.
"A frigid and remarkably persistent Arctic airmass invades the region today through next week," says the National Weather Service. "Wind chill values could stay below -10 degrees all the way through next week for some locations. The coldest air is expected Saturday night through Tuesday, when min wind chill values drop below -30 degrees."
The back edge of the heavier snowfall is pushing east and should move out of the Twin Cities metro by around 11 AM. The west metro will see another inch or so and the east metro will see around 2 more inches. Winds will pickup this afternoon which will blow the snow around.
