Minnesota Weather: Arctic Airmass 'Invades' State Thursday

The "frigid and remarkably persistent" Arctic air will be with us through at least next week, according to the National Weather Service.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Following the Thursday morning snowstorm, the Twin Cities metro will be hit with the first snap of truly bitter cold air this winter. The low will hit 16 degrees below zero in the metro Saturday night.

"A frigid and remarkably persistent Arctic airmass invades the region today through next week," says the National Weather Service. "Wind chill values could stay below -10 degrees all the way through next week for some locations. The coldest air is expected Saturday night through Tuesday, when min wind chill values drop below -30 degrees."

Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
