Schools In Twin Cities Close Due To Dangerously Cold Temps: List
Here's a list of schools in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area that will be closing Thursday or delayed because of the extreme cold.
MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL METRO, MN — Due to extremely cold weather Thursday, schools across the Twin Cities metro are closing. Wind chill advisories and warnings blanket the state currently.
"Wind chill values of 35 to 45 degrees below zero over west central and south central Minnesota will continue into mid morning, with wind chills of 25 to 35 below zero expected through noon," says the National Weather Service.
"Farther east, wind chills of 25 to 35 below zero will continue through mid morning across east central Minnesota, southeast Minnesota, and west central Wisconsin. Wind chills could remain around 25 to 30 below zero through noon across southeast Minnesota and the southern Twin Cities metro."

Below are statements released from Twin Cities area schools about starting late or closing for the day completely. The two biggest school districts in the area, Minneapolis and St. Paul, will be open Thursday.
Anoka-Hennepin School District: "All Anoka-Hennepin schools will be closed Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, due to extreme winter weather conditions in the early morning hours. As the weather improves, the district will re-open for after-school and evening high school co-curricular activities. Students involved in these activities should wait for a confirmation from their coach or advisor before attending the activity. Community use of facilities are open as scheduled. However, Community Education programming is canceled all day."

Eagle Ridge Academy: "LATE START: Due to extreme cold wind chill conditions tomorrow morning, Thursday, February 13, Eagle Ridge Academy will start two hours late. For two-hour late starts, simply add two hours to morning bus pick-up times, morning student drop-off times, and school start times. Student dismissal and lunch will still be at their normal times"
Faribault Public Schools: "Faribault Public Schools will start two hours late tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 13."
Hudson School District: "Due to the extreme cold and predicted windchill, the Hudson School District will be 2 hours delayed on Thursday, February 13th. There will be no morning 4K programming. School Age Care will start one hour late."
Maranatha Christian Academy: "Due to extreme weather conditions in the immediate forecast, Maranatha Christian Academy will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, February 13, 2020. After-school activities will be cancelled, with the exception of athletics. Coaches will contact players if there are any cancellations. In the future, students will be assigned e-learning assignments. However, with this being the inaugural 'snow day,' please enjoy your day away with NO E-LEARNING. Please remain safe during these extreme weather conditions."
Northfield Public Schools: "The Northfield Public Schools will open two hours late on Thursday, February 13, 2020, due to the weather conditions. While we are still in a wind chill advisory, discussion with the National Weather Service indicates there is a reasonable chance it will be upgraded to a wind chill warning overnight. Out of caution and to allow for families to plan, the Northfield Public Schools will open two hours late on Thursday, February 13, 2020."
Osseo Area Schools: "Due to anticipated extreme cold and wind chill, school is canceled for all early childhood through fifth grade students in Osseo Area Schools on Thursday, Feb. 13. Students in grades 6-12 will have a flex learning day. Because weather conditions are expected to improve later in the day, all after-school and evening activities will go on as scheduled."
Peace Lutheran Church Preschool: "Peace Preschool IS CLOSED on Thursday, February 13th due to the extreme cold temps."
St. Michael-Albertville School District: "Due to winter weather conditions, STMASchools is two hours late tomorrow, February 13."
