Minnesota Weather: Memorial Day 2021 Forecast

Here's the weather to expect as Minnesotans head into the long holiday weekend.

MINNESOTA — The long holiday weekend will feature temperatures on the cooler side. Memorial Day will be mostly sunny in the Twin Cites metro area, with a high near 73.

"If you need to mow your lawn, today is the day to do it," the National Weather Service said Wednesday.

"Thursday will be a washout. Camping this weekend? Watch out for a cold start Saturday. It's trending drier for the weekend, with just some scattered showers Sat night through Monday expected."

Here's the full NWS Memorial Day weekend forecast for the Twin Cities metro area:

Thursday: Rain. High near 49. East northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Thursday Night: Rain likely before 7pm, then showers likely, mainly between 7pm and 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. East northeast wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 60. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 41. South southeast wind around 5 mph.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
Memorial Day: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 73. Calm wind becoming south southwest around 5 mph in the morning.
