Minnesota Weather: Messy Weekend Ahead
This weekend in the Twin Cities will feature new ice and wet snow.
TWIN CITIES, MN — Expect icy and rain Friday before the snow falls Saturday. Up to 2 inches of new snow could accumulate by Sunday.
"In addition to the freezing drizzle this morning, light ice accumulations are also expected tonight through Saturday morning," says the National Weather Service. "Ice changes over to light snow Saturday afternoon with accumulations of 1-2". Slick roads and surfaces are likely tonight and tomorrow."

Friday: Cloudy, with a high near 28. East southeast wind around 10 mph.
Friday Night: A slight chance of freezing drizzle after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 24. East southeast wind 10 to 15 mph.
Saturday: A slight chance of freezing drizzle before noon, then a chance of snow and freezing drizzle. Cloudy, with a high near 33. East southeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Saturday Night: Snow, possibly mixed with drizzle, becoming all snow after 7pm. Low around 26. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Sunday: A 20 percent chance of snow before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. North northeast wind around 5 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. North northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 31. Calm wind becoming west northwest around 5 mph.
