Minnesota Weather: Snowstorm Advisory Issued For Twin Cities

TWIN CITIES, MN — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area and much of central Minnesota. Up to 5 inches of snow could fall in the Twin Cities by Wednesday.

"A storm system is expected to develop late tonight across the Central Plains, and move northeast across the Upper Midwest Tuesday, and into Wednesday morning," states the National Weather Service.

"Several inches of snow will fall across the Advisory area, with total accumulations of 3 to 5 inches expected before it tapers off Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Snow will begin across western Minnesota Tuesday morning, and spread eastward during the day. The Tuesday evening commute will be impacted as this system moves across the region."

Here's what to expect from the snowstorm in the Twin Cities:

  • 3 to 5 inches of new snow
  • Snow will fall at various times from 3 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday
  • Motorists should plan on slippery and dangerous road conditions, especially during the Tuesday evening commute.
