MINNESOTA — Coronavirus cases and hospitalizations dropped sharply in the past two weeks, according to a new report. State health officials credit the decline to Minnesota's vaccination efforts.

New cases in Minnesota fell 52 percent in the past 14 days, according to analysis from the New York Times. Only five other states have seen a sharper decline in the past two weeks than Minnesota.

As of Wednesday, more than 2.5 million Minnesotans complete the vaccination process.

"Minnesotans know how to take care of each other, and I am deeply grateful for the 2.5 million Minnesotans who have completed their vaccine series to take care of themselves, their loved ones, and their community," Walz said in a statement Monday.

"What we’re seeing is simple and clear: the more our vaccination numbers rise, the more our COVID-19 numbers fall – and the more life looks like normal. We’ve made strong progress, but we need everyone who can get vaccinated to get vaccinated as soon as possible so we can all have the summer we want and be protected from the virus."

Vaccination Data Released For Kids 12-15 In Minnesota

A total of 51.5 percent of all Minnesotans have received at least one dose of the vaccine, including 60,711 children ages 12-15. Residents can schedule a vaccine appointment in your area using the state's COVID-19 vaccine registration tool.
