The MN State Fair Is Officially Back On: What To Know For 2021

Officials with the Minnesota State Fair said it "does not anticipate daily attendance limits" when it returns later this year.

MINNEAPOLIS — It's official. The Minnesota State Fair is back on for 2021. After the 2020 fair was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, it will return Aug. 26 through Labor Day, Sept. 6.

The state fair's board of managers Friday moved to make the "Great Minnesota Get-Together" return official.

"Restrictions regarding large gatherings have recently eased, so at this time, the State Fair does not anticipate daily attendance limits," fair officials said in a news release.

"Further, at this time, masks will not be required for fair guests but are strongly encouraged for those not fully vaccinated. Proof of vaccination will not be required for guests, staff or vendors. Cleaning and sanitization measures will adhere to federal and state guidelines."

Fair officials said that additional info about the fair, including entertainment lineups and the new, will be released "in the coming weeks."

"Planning has been ongoing throughout the pandemic, but it still feels really good to say that the Great Minnesota Get-Back-Together is actually happening," said fair general manager Jerry Hammer.

"We’re working hard to ensure a healthy and safe environment, so if you’re ready to get together later this summer, the fair will be here and ready to welcome you back."

Gate admission tickets are now on sale for all ages at $13.

  • Admission at the gate for adults 13-64 is $16
  • Kids 5-12 and seniors 65 and older will be admitted for $14
  • Children 4 and under get in free
