MN Weather: Severe Storms Tuesday

MINNEAPOLIS — The Twin Cities metro area will see chances for showers and severe thunderstorms Tuesday. "A few strong to severe storms will be possible this afternoon and evening across southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin," the National Weather Service said.

"The primary hazards will be damaging wind gusts, large hail, and locally heavy rainfall."

Overall, the forecast for this week calls for cooler weather.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 79. Light and variable wind becoming north northeast 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between midnight and 3am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3am. Low around 57. North northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. North northeast wind around 10 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 55. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.
