National Guard Activates Troops Due To Minneapolis Civil Unrest

The National Guard announced Wednesday afternoon it has activated approximately 100 soldiers in response to civil unrest.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The National Guard announced Wednesday afternoon it has activated approximately 100 soldiers following a request from the city of Minneapolis in response to civil unrest.

According to the Minnesota National Guard, the soldiers have been activated from the 257th Military Police Company.

The soldiers are not currently in Minneapolis, but the National Guard said they are "standing by and prepared to respond if their presence is needed."
