Park Board Approves Daily Dog Park Pass
The $5 daily pass will be available online and in some park facilities as soon as park board staff work out the logistics.

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board unanimously approved the creation of a new $5 per day off-leash dog park pass Wednesday.
Park staff said they expect the pass to be used mostly by people from outside Minneapolis. People who wanted to bring their dogs to off-leash areas in parks before only had the option to buy a yearly pass at $35 for city residents or $60 for non-residents.
Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board spokeswoman Dawn Sommers said the park system received a number of requests for the new option from short-term visitors to the city.

Dog owners will be available to register for the passes online, park staff said, although owners will have to first provide proof of rabies vaccination and a pet license from their community.
There isn't currently an off-leash dog area in the 6th Park District, although a citizen advisory committee has been meeting to help assess possible sites in the neighborhood.
