Art-A-Whirl has been around for nearly 25 years, but it's never the same event twice.

MINNEAPOLIS,MN — Art-A-Whirl, the annual tour of art galleries in Northeast Minneapolis that takes place the third weekend of May, is nearly a quarter-century old, but every year has something new to offer.

Art goes travel through the city's most artistic district visiting open studios while enjoying fine wine and cheese. The event allows residents the chance to connect with local artists and buy rare and original pieces.

"Hardly anyone does the art of lost wax anymore," Manny Mayorga told Patch. He worked in dentistry for 30 years making casts and molds before retiring.

During its 23 years, Art-A-Whirl has become the largest open studio tour in the United States. Check out Patch's photos from the festival above.
